This page is dedicated to all the animals, that are related to I2P. There is actually (2005) a zoofull of animals here.

ducks

Probably the most important animal related to I2P -- A duck called duck hosts the primary I2P IRC server (irc.duck.i2p), also provides I2P/HTTP hosting (home.duck.i2p), has an HTTP proxy through I2P (duck.i2p), etc.

cows

I'm not sure how/why exactly, but jrand0m sometimes feels like a cow; e.g.: <jrand0m> moo. Post any theories you might have about this.

llamas

Llama was the IRC relay bot between IIP and I2P on the I2P side. Unfortunately, troll viciously murdered him, renaming it to iip. Luckily it did reincarnate into ant.

monkeys

Monkey was the IRC relay bot between IIP and I2P on the IIP side. Unfortunately, troll viciously murdered him, renaming it to i2p. Luckily it did reincarnate into ox.

mice

The mouse is the echoing bot on irc.duck.i2p.

cats

The cat is the echoing bot on irc.baffled.i2p (which is linked to irc.duck.i2p)

jrand0m has a kitten, that keeps distracting him from his work.

There's also 2 new cats who joined around 2022, called AGentooCat and AnAlpineCat.

dogs

Dog used to chase cat and mouse by echoing outside of i2p directly through the ircd servers.

Elephants stamp out flaming ducks!

ants

Ant is duck's IRC relay bot on the I2P network.

oxen

Ox is duck's IRC relay bot on the IIP network.

deers

Deer is duck's IRC relay bot on the freenode network. Previously it was called bat, but that nickname was already registered on freenode.

humans

Humans supposedly form the biggest user base of I2P, but no proof has been shown about it as of yet. However, I do know, that there is at least one human on I2P: human. I'm not even sure what species of humans it is about, the Neanderthals or homo erectus?

ferrets

The ferret is a domesticated European polecat. Purebred ferrets are not capable of surviving in the wild. Ferrets love to tunnel, and therefore love I2P. Ferrets are a pet alternative to a cat or dog, and therefore illegal and persecuted by cat and dog lovers in many places.

rabbits

Annoying little creatures that like to run around IRC channels causing problems.

sasquotch

The sasquotch is another species of human: more hairy and less aggresive than homo sapiens. The sasquotch likes nothing better than to share a warm lair with its partner and drink sasquotch ale while watching the stars. Sasquotch like some homo sapiens, but not the violent ones who rave. Sasquotch not like religion and politics; it thinks: there lies madness.

badgers

A badger sighting has occurred on #i2p. Just like ferrets, badgers too like tunneling -- they just dig bigger tunnels.

ardvarks

Ardvarks are a misspelled variety of aardvark. It remains uncertain if this kind of aardvark tunnel or not (or whether they take any interest in ants).

As you can see, there are a lot of animals here. My personal theory about it is that duck was originally the only animal associated with I2P, but you can't be really anonymous when you're that unique, so he just brought more animals.
